ISSUE: London, England
Posted by Michael in Issues on 05 11th, 2009We’re currently experiencing high ping times and packet loss in London, England. network Engineering has been contacted and they are working toward a resolution.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during this network event.
UPDATE: May 12, 2009 @ 08:05 EDT
The high ping times and packet loss in London has been attributed to a rather large DDOS attack. This attack wasn’t targeting any of our servers, but it did effect us and other clients with the same provider.
Network Engineering has been able to block the attack and service should get back to normal shortly.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this DDOS event.
UPDATE: May 12, 2009 @ 14:25 EDT
For a while the attack in London seemed to have been handled, but now the DDOS Attack has stepped-up in scale, continuing to effect the entire network in London. Network Engineering in London is continuing to fight the attack, but as of this time the attack is very deliberate and not ceasing.
Network Engineering is working diligently to get the attack under control, but unfortunately DDOS attacks are very easy to perform yet very difficult to truly work around in our core business (latency sensitive application hosting). As we receive updates we will update everyone.
We truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this continued DDOS Attack of the London Network.
UPDATE: May 12, 2009 @ 15:25 EDT
To help everyone get more usable service, we have *TEMPORARILY* brought up all London Servers in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This is only a *TEMPORARY* change. The servers will be moved back to London after the current DDOS situation to that location ceases.
Such a move (moving an entire location to another location) puts a strain on the target location. It looks as though Amsterdam, Netherlands will be able to handle the load, but should an issue arise in Amsterdam because of load, we will need to shutdown the TEMPORARY London servers to ensure quality of service in Amsterdam.
Here are the *TEMPORARY* IP Addresses. The hostnames *WILL NOT* get you to the TEMPORARY servers in Amsterdam. You will need to use the actual IP Addresses to reach the TEMPORARY servers:
lon01.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.25 lon02.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.26 lon03.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.27 lon04.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.28 lon05.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.29 lon06.mmoghosting.com … 75.102.59.30

MAINTENANCE: Hosting Infrastructure
Posted by Michael in Maintenance on 05 1st, 2009We are scheduling a maintenance window for our Web Hosting data center on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, between 12:01am and 8:00am CDT. The entire data center will be migrated to new network hardware infrastructure during the maintenance window. There will be no required changes to any IP Addresses. However, during this maintenance window access to the following services may be hindered:
* MMOG Hosting Web Sites
* Ventrilo Control Panel
* Billing/Support
* Customer Web Sites
* DNS Servers (which *may* cause you to not be able to connect to your Ventrilo Servers)
This maintenance will increase capacity for our ever-growing community.
Thanks for your understanding while we work through this Scheduled Maintenance Event.
Thanks,
MMOG Hosting Support
